I have always wanted to be a good writer. So many people have told me how cathartic it is for them to write down their thoughts and feelings but I've never felt confident enough to do so. It probably stems from freshman year of high school, when I was accepted into Honors English but had never before written an essay. I got a C in that class, so while my love of reading has never faded, my desire to write continued to wane.
But I want to change that. I want to explore my written voice and find my creativity. I have lofty dreams of writing (Stories? Screenplays? Greeting cards? Or just a diary?) but I won't be able to feel confident about my writing unless I work on it. I don't know what direction this is going to take, but I think I might start with some writing exercises to guide me for a while.
I am almost 28 and I have little to show for it. Now is the time to begin my adventure.
